Nauset Neighbors is an all-volunteer non-profit organization whose mission is to help older adults stay independent in their homes and active in their communities. We offer friendly visits, rides to appointments, tech help, and simple handyman tasks to our members. You can participate by signing up to volunteer. Bishop of Massachusetts Search Process
The final slate with an additional nominee by petition has been announced. Learn more about the slate of nominees by clicking here. There will be meet-and-greets with the candidates around the diocese May 7–11, giving the people of the diocese an opportunity to meet and learn more about the nominees for election as the diocese’s 17th bishop diocesan. All are invited to attend, particularly those who are voting members of Diocesan Convention. The Rector Search Committee
The Search Committee would like to thank you for your responses to our recent survey. You have given us a very complete understanding of our congregation. We are diligently working on the Parish Profile and at this point do not see the need for any focus groups. A Building Report
What is going on with our building? You may have noticed some holes in the walls or furnishings being moving around in the Sanctuary and the Office area. You may know that several of our air-conditioning systems and one furnace have failed after 25 years of hard service and the Facilities Team is working with Engineers and Contractors to not just repair, but to modernize and improve the overall heating and cooling systems.
Moving forward, St. Christopher’s is acting responsibly by replacing the deteriorated fossil fueled equipment with Modern Heat Pumps that make better use of our Solar Panels that generate electricity. New heat pumps are substantially more efficient than the types available 25 years ago and this, in all, reduces our carbon footprint.
The Office area is getting expanded ductwork to distribute heat from a new Heat Pump system that replaces air conditioning systems that failed a year or two ago. We have been limping along as the engineering company was redesigning a new system. Comfort problems will be resolved in the Library, Rector’s office and Administrators office. The remaining office area will be completely served by a new system installed in the storage area adjacent to the multi-purpose room. Heating controls will be computer controlled by the building manager making the many required adjustments much simpler. To that end, some wallboard is being removed and in other areas, ducts and pipes will be added that will be encased in new wallboard.
The Sanctuary will get new supply registers in the ceiling that will improve efficiency of that system and the ceiling fans are being replaced with modern smaller ducted air distributors to move hot air stratified at the ceiling to the seating area. This will be much better for our Dobson Pipe Organ, which often suffers in the winter from having the room hot at the top while being moderate at floor level.
We know this will have some disruptions over the next two months as the work commences and the Facilities Team and Building Manager will do everything possible to allow all the normal activities of the parish to continue as before. Please let our Building Manager, Ali Crockett, know of any concerns or problems and she will have the responsible Project Manager contact you.
